IPHONE · YOUTUBE · SLEEP AUDIO

Keep your YouTube sleep video playing overnight.

If the sound helps you remain settled, an unexpected pause can be the last thing you want. Check these settings before blaming the video or your sleep-video launcher.

Start with the three settings that can stop playback

Tap4Sleep helps you find and launch a personally selected YouTube video. Once the YouTube app opens, YouTube, iPhone and connected headphones control playback. These checks address the most common intentional stops.

Confirm YouTube background playIn YouTube, open Settings, then Background & downloads. With YouTube Premium, set Background play to Always on so audio can continue when the screen locks or you leave the app.
Make sure YouTube’s Sleep Timer is offWhile the video is playing, open the player settings and check Sleep timer. A selected timer will deliberately stop the video after the chosen interval or at the end of the video.
Turn off AirPods sleep pausingWith supported AirPods connected, open iPhone Settings and tap the AirPods name near the top. Turn off Pause Media When Falling Asleep if you want continuous playback.

Use a video long enough for your purpose

Background playback cannot extend a video beyond its actual duration. Check the running time before bed. If the sound ending may disturb you, choose a recording designed to continue for the period you expect to need it.

Autoplay can introduce an unpredictable recommendation after a video ends. A single sufficiently long recording provides a more predictable experience than relying on whatever YouTube selects next.

If playback still stops

  • Check whether the YouTube player shows paused, buffering or a video-unavailable message.
  • Check AirPods battery level and whether audio switched to a nearby Mac, iPad, Apple TV or speaker.
  • Confirm that the iPhone still has Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity.
  • Try the same video without AirPods for one night to separate a headphone control issue from a YouTube issue.
  • If pressing the AirPods stem immediately resumes playback, a pause command was probably received.
Privacy note: Tap4Sleep stores your saved library in your browser. Opening a video hands playback to YouTube, which operates under Google’s policies.

Make the video easier to reach again

YouTube Premium provides strong playback features, but finding one specific video in its phone interface can require searching through history, playlists and recommendations. Tap4Sleep gives you a small personal night library with your own notes, then hands the selected video to YouTube for playback.
